Pussy Riot is a Russian feminist punk-rock collective that stages political criticism on topics such as LGBT rights, feminism, the situation of freedom of expression and the repression of artistic movements in Russia.  When the group organized "punk prayer," the guerilla performance at Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior in 2012. They wore multi-colored balaclavas and stockings in dresses ranging from pink to green.  The balaclava has become the group's trademark.The brightly colored balaclavas and graphic T-shirts were inspired by young people protesting on the streets of Russia.  The collection, which is a collaboration between Pussy Riot, the Kultrab art community, and 9cyka, was created to support the independent news publication of the political art project, MediaZona, which focuses primarily on criminal justice in the context of Russia.  "In the current political situation where our country does not have freedom of expression, clothing became an act of self-expression, a way of showing that we do not agree."  Pussy Riot Collective.
