“Gimiendo y llorando en este valle de lágrimas” rastrea a la mística figura de la monja y su iconografía como autoridad religiosa y objetivo susceptible de heackeo. El punto de inflexión está en la indumentaria, la artista recluta mujeres o personas sexo-disidentes para que encarnen y hagan parte del convento de monjas technochamanas. Esta relación con el vestuario pretende catalizar procesos físicos y mentales -sin precisar jerarquía ni orden al proceso- de autopercepción por medio de la indumentaria propia de la imaginaria colonial religiosa. Este es un trabajo en devenir experiencia y encuentro, que busca la potencia de la despersonalización como un mecanismo de defensa primitivo. El hábito de monja está hecho de chatarra electrónica, testigo de la vertiginosa aceleración material postindustrial y sus lógicas de desechos de las que somos hijxs. La performer es Irene Rodevia.
"Moaning and crying in this valley of tears" traces the mystical figure of the nun and her iconography as a religious authority and target susceptible to being hacked. The artist recruits women or sex-dissident people to incarnate and become part of the techno-champaign nunnery. This relationship with the wardrobe aims to catalyze physical and mental processes - without specifying hierarchy or order to the process - of self-perception through the clothing typical of the religious colonial imaginary. This work seeks the power of depersonalization as a primitive defense mechanism. The nun's habit is made of electronic junk, witness to the dizzying postindustrial material acceleration and its waste logics of which we are children. Irene Rodevia is the performer of this work.
