Sculptor, dancer, and performance artist Nick Cave makes intriguing, captivating, and expressive Soundsuits. The suits wrap the user's entire body in collected materials: twigs, human hair, synthetic leather, wire, wrists, horns, sequins, plastic buttons, sequins, feathers, toys and all kinds of recycled materials. According to the artist, some of the costumes incorporate toys and stuffed animals as a method of invoking nostalgia. The finished pieces resemble ceremonial costumes and masks from Africa. The soundsuits, according to Cave, suggest a place of escape and security. Who is inside is hidden, free from discrimination. Cave's work attempts to eliminate gender, race, and class in an objective way of seeing the world.

Según el artista, algunos de los disfraces incorporan juguetes y animales de peluche como un método para invocar la nostalgia. Las piezas terminadas se asemejan a trajes ceremoniales y máscaras de África. Los trajes de sonido, según Cave, sugieren un lugar de escape y seguridad. Quien está adentro está oculto, libre de discriminación. El trabajo de Cave intenta eliminar el género, la raza y la clase de una manera objetiva de ver el mundo.
