Martín Gusinde, sacerdote y etnólogo conocido por sus trabajos antropológicos. La colección "Gusinde" fue reunida por el sacerdote entre 1917 y 1965, mientras realizaba sus tareas de evangelización. Durante su estancia en estas áreas, se dedicó a coleccionar diversos objetos etnográficos, formando una colección con piezas excepcionales. Estas piezas fueron utilizadas por los representantes de los espíritus, en la ceremonia de iniciación llamada hain, practicada por los Selknam (Onas). En él, los ancianos revelaron los secretos tribales a los jóvenes, que fueron sometidos a una serie de pruebas de resistencia física, emocional y de supervivencia. Los registros etnográficos que dejó constituyen un material de inmenso valor para el conocimiento de los Selk'nam de la isla, los Yámanas y el Kawéskar de los archipiélagos patagónicos.
