Camilo está buscando el espíritu. El espíritu que está presente en potencia. El espíritu como alteridad (y un reconocimiento del otro). El espíritu como energía colectiva. El espíritu como fantasma, un espectro que constantemente nos persigue. El espíritu es múltiple, no vive en el uno. Camilo descubre singularidades plurales y hace evidente que el disfraz es un vehículo para un trance colectivo. "Beyond the Costume" es un acercamiento al espíritu del Carnaval de Barranquilla en Colombia, el segundo carnaval más grande del mundo. "Beyond de Costume" sugiere una vida futura, un espacio psíquico más allá de la colocación del material. Un personaje es una disposición, una personalidad, un atributo y al mismo tiempo una mentalidad y una esencia. Cada toma que toma Camilo suspende seres efímeros en recuerdo eterno. Cada disparo está un paso más cerca de encontrar el espíritu.
Camilo is looking for the spirit. The spirit as that which is present in potency. The spirit as alterity (and an acknowledgment of the other). The spirit as a collective energy. The spirit as a ghost, a specter that is constantly haunting us. The spirit is multiple, it doesn’t live in the one. Camilo uncovers plural singularities and makes evident that the costume is a vehicle for a collective trance. “Beyond the Costume” is an approach to the spirit of Barranquilla’s Carnival in Colombia, the second largest carnival in the world. “Beyond de Costume” suggests an afterlife, a psychic space beyond the material placement. A character is a disposition, a personality, an attribute and at the same time a mentality and an essence. Each shot Camilo takes suspends ephemeral beings in eternal remembrance. Each shot is a step closer to finding the spirit.
